| Moncellier Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011
Wine makers Tasting Notes This 2011 Sauvignon Blanc wine is bursting with cut grass and passion fruit on the nose. Fresh asparagus on the front palate, rolling through to a delightful and refreshing mineral back palate that lingers. The balance of fruit and acid, shows that the Awatere Valley produces some of the best wines in the Marlborough region. Cellaring This wine like all Sauvignon Blanc is best consumed young or can be aged up to three years where this wine will develop softer more elegant characters. Viticulture The fruit was grown on the hills of the Awatere Valley. We decided to control the crop so we could get the fruit to maturity earlier in the late summer. The vineyard is north facing allowing the fruit to mature evenly. This grower practices a sustainable Vineyard. Vinification The yeast used to produce Moncellier Sauvignon Blanc, works relentlessly on extracting from the juice, the pungent flavors and aromas. This yeast ferments at low temperatures so the characteristic Sauvignon Blanc flavors are retained in the wine. There were no adjustments needed to be made to this wine allowing it to stand on its reputation of another Awatere gem.
