Moncellier Marlborough. Sauvignon Blanc 2008

New label of Bill Spence (ex-Matua) and Greg Rowdon. Quite serious style, firm, plenty of spine, dry yet retaining drinkability and heaps of quite strong sauvignon characters. A wine with some depth and character. Excellent drinking into 2010 at least.

Moncellier Marlborough. Pinot Gris 2008

Amongst the best of 2008 pinot gris I have seen for its drinkability and fruit statement which is true to variety and really good tasty characters. A finelytuned and definitive style which sets a standard for others to follow. Great after work and with dinner.

WITH PASSION. This soft ripe Sauvignon is the first release from the partnership between Sauvignon pioneer Bill Spence and his Matua Valley mate, Greg Rowdon. It’s an debut with rich and mouth-filling melon and passion fruit layered with herb.

My Cellar.

The father of New Zealand’s first sauvignon blanc, Bill Spence, is at it again. Feeling inspired after a few beers one evening, Spence and Greg Rowden, an expert winemaker from Matua Valley Wines, decided to take the plunge and create their own wine label. The result is Moncellier Wines, about to release the first-vintage sauvignon blanc and pinot gris.
